I created my website around 2013. I admit it took me a while to get it going because I felt that I did not have enough information to share. One day I just said "forget it! I'm going to do this!" Once I started adding the information I had found about my Pritchett family, I was surprised at how much I had gathered. It was quite overwhelming! My purpose of creating the website was to share my information with the world and to connect with other family members that I may not have known about. So far the results have been awesome!
Once I published my site I figured nobody would ever come across it with all the competition in the world wide web. The first major hit came from my cousin Felix. I remember when I received my first email stating that someone had completed the Contact Me form on my website. I was beyond excited! I opened up the email and read all about Felix. Now I knew this young man had to be related because Felix is a popular family name for both the Pritchetts and Inges. He told me all about how he grew up not knowing much about his family. He said he googled his father and grandfather's names and my website came up. Right at his fingertips was a wealth of Pritchett family history. This touched my heart and made me cry. With my "little bit of information" I was able to fill in the gaps for someone who knew less than I did. This right here is the reason why I do what I do.
So, it is important to get your research out there. You never know who is out there looking for some answers that they cannot find. The amount of research you have, whether great or minimal, can open up the doors for someone else who is out there looking.
